If a person contributes to a pretax 403b, does that money count as wages when it comes to drawing social security?

403(b)s are pre-income tax but appear in boxes 3 and 5 as social security and medicare income.

What I am talking about is the pre-tax income included when you figure how much social security is taxed. He drawing social security now.

If you are thinking of a modified AGI, such as for someone with a deductible IRA contribution receiving SS, there is no such adjustment for 403b contributions. Any 403b payments received would affect taxation of SS since AGI would be increased, unless SS benefits were already included at the 85% level in income.
