Commissioned Minister - 11/4/09 at 4:15 AM

I have a client who is a "Commissioned" minister (not ordained) who is receiving a housing allowance from the church where he works. Is he eligible to receive a housing allowance as a commissioned minister?

Thanks much.

Here is one legal advisor who suggests that non-ordained ministers might qualify for tax benefits if they function as trained clergy in a church that has a long standing tradition of using commissions. Read it carefully as he has many conditions to satisfy.
