Handicaped Child aged 21 - 5/8/08 at 1:31 PM

Can the parents of a handicaped child aged 21 claim any kind of dependency deduction? Are there any other tax benefits they may be able to claim?

Thank you.

The normal rules for a qualifying child include disability. If the child does not meet those standards, review the rules for a qualifying relative.

In evaluating the child's support, Social Security is considered to be provided by the child (even if on the parent's earnings record). SSI and state/county payments are generally considered to be provided by a third party.
