Can a physician who works as an employee of a medical practice be allowed to deduct her malpractice liability insurance as a job expense (subject to 2% of agi)?

Many physicians may have a medical practice outside of the employee situation, like a sole proprietorship, partnership or Professional Corporation. So you should try to find all of the individual's facts.
Is the physician only an employee or does the physician also a member of another practice?
No, then all on 2106
Yes, does the employer deducted insurance cover the outside practice?
Yes, then prorate as appropriate to appropriate schedule.
No, then all 2106.
If there is another practice, is insurance also paid there?
Can that insurance be used to cover doctor in the employee situation?
Yes, too late for the deduction, but the doctor should work with employer to stop insurance deduction.
