can a canadian who has an american green card and files u.s. tax returns deduct student loan interest from canadian student loans on his 1040 just like student loan interest from loans in the u.s. my understanding is that you can but i need to get this clarified.if you can what is the tax reg?

The wording on QF page 12-8 tends to support your position that the interest is deductible as student loan interest.
